IRB Barcelona (www.irbbarcelona.org) is a multidisciplinary institute where scientists address challenging and pressing biomedical problems in a collaborative fashion in order to provide groundbreaking solutions to unmet medical needs. The institute currently has more than 450 members from all over the world working in 28 research groups.
The job opening is part of the “CaixaResearch Translació Clínica” initiative, which is supported by ”la Caixa” Foundation. This initiative aims to foster synergic interaction between fundamental research scientists at IRB Barcelona and medical groups.
IRB Barcelona invites applications from outstanding young investigators in the field of immunology for a tenure track junior Group Leader position.
The successful candidate will be expected to tackle—both from the clinical and fundamental research perspectives—pathologies associated with (chronic) inflammation and defects in the immune system in the context of age-related degenerative diseases and cancer. These phenomena underlie major pathologies and involve the intersections of the main research strengths of IRB Barcelona, including cancer/metastasis, ageing and cell reprogramming, metabolism, cell differentiation, signal transduction, and gene expression regulation. IRB Barcelona hosts world-leading laboratories in these key fields that have published studies addressing the role of the immune system on them.
The successful candidate will be provided with laboratory space, a generous start-up package, running costs and access to state-of-the-art facilities (listed at irbbarcelona.org).
