The GIGA German Institute of Global and Area Studies / Leibniz-Institut für Globale und Regionale Studien is an independent social science research institute based in Hamburg. It analyses political, social, and economic developments in Africa, Asia, Latin America, and the Middle East, and links this knowledge to questions of global significance. It combines regionspecific analysis with innovative comparative research on accountability and participation, growth and development, peace and security, and power and ideas.
Research Fellow
Applications are invited for a part-time (65 %) position, with a contract of 36 months, starting 1 July 2018. The position is designed for further professional qualification as defined in § 2 WissZeitVG (Academic Fixed-Term Contract Act). The salary is commensurate with TV-AVH / TVöD EG 13.
The successful candidate will
‐ work as part of the project “The Termination of International Sanctions: Causes, Processes and Domestic Consequences,” funded by the German Research Foundation (Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft, DFG);
‐ contribute to the collection, processing, and analysis of data on the termination of sanctions;
‐ conduct original research on a selected case study pertaining to the termination of a sanctions regime in Asia, Latin America, or the Middle East;
‐ undertake substantial field research in the respective case; and
‐ be an active member of the GIGA, affiliated to one of its Regional Institutes and to the relevant Research Programmes.The GIGA promotes gender equality and actively encourages applications from women.
