EIGE publishes new methodological framework for the 2025 Gender Equality Index

Following the release of the 2025 Gender Equality Index Report, the European Institute for Gender Equality (EIGE) has published a new methodological document outlining the criteria underpinning the revised Index.

Based on 27 selected indicators and updated data sources, the 2025 Index sets a new baseline for measuring gender equality across the EU.

While continuing to assess six core domains — work, money, knowledge, time, power and health — and maintaining a cross-cutting focus on violence and intersecting inequalities, the revised framework strengthens the Index’s ability to reflect real change and better support evidence-based policymaking across Europe.
