Open Community Experience (OCX) 2026, organised by the Eclipse Foundation and taking place in Brussels on 21–23 April 2026, offers a valuable opportunity for dialogue and collaboration between developers, researchers, industry leaders, and open source communities.
The conference explores how open technologies are shaping the future of software and digital infrastructure, with topics ranging from artificial intelligence and developer tooling to open source governance, compliance, and software-defined vehicles.
For women scientists, OCX provides a space to engage with emerging technological ecosystems while contributing perspectives that are vital for building responsible and inclusive innovation.
Sessions across the conference address the intersection of research, technology, and societal impact, areas where women scientists are increasingly playing a leading role.
A particularly relevant moment will be the interactive working diversity lunch “Building the future: Strategic inclusion for the next wave of contributors”, taking place on 22 April. It will explore practical strategies to ensure that open source communities remain diverse, inclusive, and sustainable. Participants will discuss how projects can attract contributors from different backgrounds and regions, strengthening the global open technology ecosystem.
OCX also features inspiring voices such as Ruth Buscombe (Formula 1) and Nadia Aimé (Microsoft), whose keynotes reflect on leadership, innovation, and the role of open collaboration in shaping the technologies of tomorrow.
Ensuring that women scientists participate actively in shaping technological ecosystems is essential for building a future based on equity, inclusion, and shared knowledge. For this reason, to increase an active women participation, EPWS President Lucia Martinelli warmly invites women scientists interested in the future of open technologies to attend this conference in Brussels, taking the opportunity to benefit with an exclusive 20% discount.
