Dr. phil. Dipl.-Ing. Afsar Sattari, born in 1958, is a Doctor of Philosophy (Dr. phil.), Master of Science in Information Engineering (M.Sc.) and has a Diploma in Electrical Engineering / Communication Engineering (Dipl.-Ing.). She has been a lecturer at the FOM University Cologne and at the GeStiK Faculty of the University of Cologne. She has also given seminars at the Hochschule Koblenz and the University of Koblenz. She managed a Documentation and Training Department in an international telecommunication company till 2002 and works as a freelancer ever since and also as the director of two other companies since 2012 in Cologne.
Her research fields are on gender aspect, refugees and migrants, civil society and technical themes. She has published 16 books or has written articles within the books of other publishers, as well as has managed the form and content of publication of 24 further technical books. In addition, she has given numerous speeches and interviews on technical, sociological and feminist fields in different languages or has published over 50 articles on these themes. Currently she is a member of 23 organisations and has had 22 appointments, e.g., as a board member in NuT e. V. and as a coordinator of two running projects on refugees and migrants, namely the Academic Refugees/Migrants - Women/Girls (AKAD FM-FM) of NuT e.V. and the STEM Refugees/Migrants - Women/Girls (MINT FM-FM) of dib e.V. She has also received some honourable mentions for her social commitments.
