The Faculty of Agricultural and Food Sciences of the Neubrandenburg University of Applied Sciences invites applications for a
professorship – pay grade W2, base salary plus performance bonuses – of “Agricultural Engineering” Reference no.: 131007/2013
to be filled at the earliest possible date.
The candidate will be expected to cover the entire field of Agricultural Engineering in research and teaching on the basis of relevant experience. The subject areas to be taught include the principles of agricultural engineering, indoor and outdoor operations, process engineering, the planning of systems and computer- and GPS-based applications in agricultural engineering. Experience in the area of renewable energies would be an advantage. Candidates must be prepared to teach Bachelor’s and Master’s level courses; candidates will also be expected to update existing courses/modules and develop new ones.
The successful candidate must have a university degree in agricultural sciences or mechanical engineering (major or specialisation in agricultural engineering), as well as the skills needed to conduct scientific work, experience in applied research and very good connections in the field. Academic qualifications are generally demonstrated by the quality of the candidate’s doctorate or special achievements in the application or development of scientific knowledge and methods. There must be evidence of at least five years of professional-level experience, including at least three years outside of the higher education sector.
Owing to the breadth of the discipline, the candidate will also be required to teach courses outside of the narrower sphere of professional experience. A willingness for close cooperation with other subject areas, especially from livestock and crop production, is strongly desired. Active participation in the academic self-administration of the university and willingness for continued professional development are important prerequisites for successful work at the Neubrandenburg University of Applied Sciences.

The requirements for employment are specified in Sect. 58 of the Higher Education Act of the State of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern (more information and/or copies of the qualification requirements are available on request).
Professors appointed as a civil servants (Beamte) shall be assigned the status of civil servants with either limited or unlimited tenure in accordance with the state Civil Service Act (Sect. 61 Para. 1 LHG-M-V).
In order to assess teaching aptitude, the appointment is subject to a probationary period of two years.
