The Faculty of Information Technology and Electrical Engineering at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) invites applications for a full-time permanent associate professorship in Computer Science affiliated with the Department of Computer Science, campus Gjøvik (http://www.ntnu.edu/idi). The associate professor is expected to play a major role in be teaching, supervision and research in applied computer science. The candidate for the position should support the Bachelor in Programming, the Bachelor in Engineering – Computer Science, as well as the Master in Applied Computer Science. The associate professor will play a role in developing the educational profile in the computer science programs and ensuring an excellent learning environment, in collaboration with colleagues, students, and external stakeholders. The faculty’s study programs should have a strong international profile, and the associate professor is expected to be able to contribute to the development of international alliances and collaboration.
The associate professor is expected to carry out research in applied computer science. Depending on the background of the candidate this could be in one or more of the following areas: virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR), mixed reality technology, computer games, computer graphics. modern distributed systems, big data, cloud computing, applied machine learning, modern soft-computing or artificial intelligence technologies, including deep-learning.
