The Luxembourg Institute of Science & Technology – LIST is looking for prospective PhD students with an interest in research related to sustainable composites. The project SusPoCo – Sustainable Polymer Composites is described here, and they are looking for a total of nine (9) PhD students:
PhD Student: designing vitrimers via advanced modeling and characterization
PhD Student: synthesis of novel polymeric catalysts for high performance vitrimers
PhD Student: renewable fiber structure & surface engineering for composite applications
PhD Student for directing vitrimer reactivity and structure for reliable thermal reshaping
PhD Student for vitrimer composites: design for repair
PhD Student for vitrimer healing & mechanical recycling
PhD Student: programmed fiber composite debonding / disassembly
PhD Student for chemical recycling of fiber composites
PhD Student: multi-tier recycling of vitrimer / hybrid fiber composites

“What we’re doing covers everything from synthetic and polymer chemistry to resin formulation, composite processing, advanced characterization, molecular modeling, polymer physics and mechanical design for repair, and I think we have a chance to not only do some excellent science, but to have a real impact as well. Indeed, the technologies our PhD students will help to develop are intended to address pressing issues such as climate change and environmental degradation, and not a moment too soon given the current circumstances.”
