Women 20 (W20) Brazil, the official engagement group of G20 focused on promoting gender equity and women’s economic empowerment, held its first delegates’ meeting last 5 February 2024. Strong focus were reducing inequalities in all their forms, climate change and the environment and reforming the international system and reinvigorating multilateralism. As part of this emphasis the W20 Brazil Presidency revealed that it will work on five core priority areas (all underpinned by intersectionality from a race and ethnicity point of view) as follows: Women Entrepreneurs: Access to Financing, Capital and Market; Women in STEM; Care Economy; Tackling Violence against Women; Climate Justice.
The president of EPWS (Lucia Martinelli) participated in this meeting as the newest member of the EU W20 Delegation, expressing her determination to support the work of the EU Delegation and W20 with actions related to climate change, with a particular focus on education, as well as through public engagement and communication.
She also stressed the role of EPWS as a link between the communities of women at the grassroots level and the policymakers at the EU and International levels.”
