University Professorship (W3) for Functional Genomics of Mental Health in Muenster

 

The Medical Faculty of the Westphalian Wilhelms-University Münster (WWU) has an opening as University Professorship (W3) for Functional Genomics of Mental Health to be appointed as soon as possible.

The Professorship is based at the Laboratory Section of Molecular Neurobiology of Mental Health at the University Hospital Department of Psychiatry, Psychosomatics and Psychotherapy (Director: Prof. Dr. med. Bernhard Baune, FRANZCP) at the University of Münster.

Essential criteria for suitable applicants include international collaboration and scientific reputation in the area of genomics of psychiatric disorders, preferably with a focus on mood disorders. A wider spread research expertise in genomics, experimental lab research, high ranking publications and successful competitive grants as well as a high level of cross-disciplinary collaborations nationally and internationally are key criteria for the successful candidate.

The newly appointed Professor is expected to enhance research and teaching in the area of molecular neurobiology of psychiatric disorders and to collaborate with existing major research themes of the Medical Faculty, such as in molecular and systemic neuroscience, in developing novel biological treatments for psychiatric disorders as well as with research initiatives in the area of “Neural Systems” within the Faculty.

Collaboration with other major research themes within the Medical Faculty, the centre of excellence „Cells in Motion“ (EXC 1003), the interdisciplinary centre for clinical research (IZKF), the centre for clinical trials (ZKS), and the Max-Planck-Institute for molecular biomedicine are most welcome. Candidates with the proven ability to conduct productive research in collaborative and interdisciplinary settings are preferred. Key prerequisites of applicants include an excellent track record in research as part of tenure-track positions such as a „Junior-Professor“, or by “Habilitation“ or as a post-doc at an University or Research Institute. Additional requisites as part of § 36 of legal regulations of the higher education sector (“Hochschulgesetz”) apply.
