The University of Helsinki has the first-ever Finnish vice-dean deputed to equality and wellbeing

From January 2022, the Faculty of Science of the University of Helsinki has for the first time a vice-dean whose main area of responsibility is wellbeing and equality. This is the first nomination of this kind in any Finnish university and sets an excellent example toward the achievement of equal opportunities in the Academia. Prof. Hanna Vehkamäki is in charge of important issues such as sustainable development, international issues, wellbeing, equality, and principles for facility use. Prof. Hanna Vehkamäki, who is the leader of the Academy of Finland Center of Excellence VILMA (Virtual laboratory for molecular level atmospheric transformations), is also a board member of the Helsinki Association of Women Researchers (HELWOR), which is associated to EPWS and represented in its board.
