The 2023 Women20 meeting took place in Aurangabad, India, on February 27-28

The 2023 meeting of Women20 (W20), the G20 Engagement Group, has taken place in Aurangabad (India) on February 27-28, in the framework of the Indian G20 presidency, whose motto is ‘One Earth, One Family, One Future’. The five priority areas of W20 under India’s presidency include Women’s Entrepreneurship, Grassroots Women Leadership, Bridging the Gender Digital Divide, Education & Skill Development, and Climate Change.

The theme of the kick-off meeting was ‘Pursuit of gender equality, equity and dignity for women-led development’ and it was intended to discuss, deliberate, and develop a compelling strategy to target gender issues.
In addition to the delegates, many politicians attended the meeting, including Smriti Zubin Irani, Minister of Women & Child Development and Minority Affairs. Stories of unconventional women in India breaking barriers in different fields including the Indian Navy and the grassroots entrepreneurship were shared. It is expected that W20 will influence the policy of G20 countries towards the gender issues in all fields. The Italian delegation included Sveva Avveduto, President of Donne e Scienza, the Italian Women in Science Association, a full member of EPWS.
