Professorship in Microstructural Optimization of Metallic Materials at Clausthal University of Technology

The Faculty of Natural and Materials Sciences of Clausthal University of Technology is seeking to appoint the position of a University Professor (Salary Scale W3 NBesG) “Microstructural Optimization of Metallic Materials” (m/f/d) at the Institute of Materials Science and Engineering as soon as possible.

The successful candidate is working on key metals that are most important for industry (Fe- and Al-based), has profound research experience in the field of development and optimization of metallic high-performance materials, especially those based on recycled raw materials.
Teaching covers the complete field of metallic materials with the courses integrated into the materials-oriented studies of the university (Materials Science and Technology, Mechanical Engineering).

 

The person to be appointed has a track record in materials science and technology and represents the field of experimental materials development. General proficiencies and competences regarding material analysis and simulation methods as well as good knowledge of manufacturing technologies are a prerequisite. Close contacts to industry and industrial work experience are of advantage.

The candidate is expected to work in an interdisciplinary manner within the framework of the main research areas of Clausthal University of Technology, particularly in the research field “New materials and processes for competitive products” at Clausthal University of Technology. Experience in the acquisition of third-party funded projects or corresponding industrial experience is a prerequisite.

The willingness to hold courses in German and English is a prerequisite. Strong commitment to teaching is expected.
