International Conference Be.MINT 2009

Best Practices for Women
in Mathematics, Informatics, Natural Sciences and Technology

April 20th, 2009
Hannover Fair Conference Area Hall, Germany

The conference aims at introducing the National Pact for Women in MINT Careers- Komm, mach MINT (Go MINT) as an outstanding example of Best Practice activity on a European level.

For the European Year of Creativity and Innovation 2009, the conference will focus on presently innovative fields of technology development and media.
The integration of women’s innovative forces is a key factor to increase the competitivity of the European economy, which, especially in times of crisis, reveals new opportunities.

These aspects will be considered and adressed by introducing new concepts at the interface of university and economy.

“Furthermore, the conference emphasises media, which has an enduring impact on attitudes towards MINT and Mint careers by a wide range
of the populace, such as parents, teachers and young professionals. Contributions in this regard aim at illustrating the public image of MINT
careers and identifying ways in which media can promote new approaches to careers in technology.

The conference intends to introduce the National Pact to a European audience as well as to encourage networks beyond the Federal Republic of Germany.”
