Maren A. Jochimsen holds a Doctorate in Ecological Economics from the University of St. Gallen, Switzerland, and is co-founder of Netzwerk Vorsorgendes Wirtschaften (Network Caring Economy). Before joining the University of Duisburg-Essen, Germany, as Managing Director of the Essen College of Gender Research (EKfG), a central research institute of the University, in 2010, Maren A. Jochimsen was Secretary General of the European Platform of Women Scientists EPWS in Brussels (2005-2009). Since 2009 she has been supporting the Platform on a voluntary basis.
In the course of her mainly scientific-organisational career path, Maren A. Jochimsen has done research on gender issues in science, networking for the representation of women scientists in academia and its decision-making bodies as well as for the incorporation of the gender dimension in science and research. Her postdoctoral research on the integration of caring activities in economic science took her to the University of Cambridge, Harvard University, and the University of Amsterdam. Before joining EPWS she was employed at the Guaranteebank for Social Economy in Cologne, specializing in the financing of social enterprises and organizations.
Maren A. Jochimsen has longstanding substantial experience in interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary work and has published on feminist economics, care and economics as well as research policy.
