Seminar on the impact of gender in urban planning and architecture

The UNESCO Chair on Gender Equality in STEM from the Technical University of Madrid is organizing a Seminar to address the impact of Gender in urban planning and architecture, from the approval of the Gender Equality Law in Spain (2007) to the new framework established by the New Urban Agenda.

The Seminar will be attended by architect Franziska Ullmann, author of the famous Frauen-Werk-Stadt of Vienna. But, and will discuss with many other interesting speakers.

The aim is to address gender in urban planning and architecture from different perspectives: women’s participation, breakthrough from public administration, international bodies, local and regional policies, professional practicing and academic research.

The seminar will look at the implementation of the gender impact assessments, required by the Spanish legislation, through the experience of Madrid, Nuevo Norte, and important urban development in central Madrid, and a pioneer one in the integration of gender dimensions in spatial design.
