Head of the Thünen Institute of Rural Economics / Professor for “Economy of Rural Areas” at the LUH

In a joint appointment by the Johann Heinrich von Thünen Institute, Federal Research Institute for Rural Areas, Forestry and Fisheries (Thünen Institute) and the Faculty of Natural Sciences of the Leibniz University Hannover (LUH) the position as Head of the Thünen Institute of Rural Economics (to be established) conjoined with the appointment of a Professor for “Economy of Rural Areas” at the LUH is to be filled immediately in Höxter, Germany.

 

 

Requirements

We are looking for a person with a university degree and a doctorate in economic geography or economics. The person has published relevant scientific papers in national and international scientific journals in at least one of the fields of regional economics and/or economic geography and has sound knowledge of the economic, locational and labor market conditions in rural areas. The person should have successfully acquired and carried out third-party funded projects. He/she should have experience in political consulting, in leading working groups, in teaching at the university level, and in national and international scientific cooperation.

The person should be able to convincingly represent concepts and results in written form, in lectures and in discussions. Exceptionally good German and English language skills are required. The person should have a high degree of leadership competence and be able to work together as a team even in stressful situations. The position also requires the ability and willingness to perform the administrative and management tasks associated with running the Institute.
