FAU is the most innovative full-spectrum university in Germany. Its Faculty of Humanities, Social Sciences, and Theology invites applications for a Full Professorship (W3) for Sport Science with the focus on Health Promotion / Public Health / Social Sciences in Sport at the Department of Sport Science and Sport. The professorship is a full-time and permanent position to be filled by the earliest possible starting date.
We seek to appoint a leading expert with an internationally visible research and teaching profile. The appointed professor will make theoretical and empirical contributions to the role of physical activity and sport in the area of health promotion and public health. Research and teaching experience in physical education at schools are also desirable. The professor will participate in teaching in the international Master’s degree programme ‘Physical Activity and Health’ as well as in the teaching degree programme ‘Physical Education’ with the profile ‘physical activity and health’.
Applicants must demonstrate research excellence in health enhancing physical activity in relation to health promotion, public health and/or social sciences and the ability to contribute to the full research profile at the Department of Sport Science and Sport and the research priority ‘physical activity and health over the life course’. We expect candidates to have experience in collaborating with stakeholders and institutions in the health sector and the sport sector and to show willingness to participate in international research networks.
Successful candidates show an excellent academic track record in research and teaching at the highest international standards. You have substantial research experience abroad as well as experience in managing research projects and in raising third-party funding. A university degree and an outstanding doctoral degree as well as a passion for education and pertinent teaching experience are prerequisites. The position also requires additional postdoctoral qualifications. These should be in the form of a habilitation (postdoctoral thesis) or equivalent academic publications. You may also have acquired these necessary qualifications in a non-university context or through a junior faculty position (for example as W1 Professor or Assistant Professor).
