Virginija Langbakk has been appointed first Head of the European Institute for Gender Equality, located in Vilnius, Lithuania.

Virginija Langbakk, a long time senior international consultant at SIPU (Swedish Institute for Public Administration) in Stockholm,is due to begin her work in Brussels on 16 April 2009.

The announcement was made to the Network of Women in Decision Making in Politics and the Economy during their last meeting in Brussels on 3 April 2009.
