International Synergy Conference of Horizon 2020 Act Project in Brussels

On 25 February 2019 the 1st ACT project International Synergy Conference was held in Brussels Bel Conference Centre. The project is aiming at advancing gender equality in research performing and research funding organizations by strengthening existing infrastructures for knowledge sharing and mutual learning, in order to increase gender expertise and engagement in the European Research Area. Taking into account that the considerable advances made in the European Union in the last decade in these areas are rather scattered, the ACT project is tackling the situation by developing a network of Communities of Practice (CoP).

The conference in Brussels was geared towards getting knowledge about the existing and potential members of the ACT CoP across Europe. The Conference started by the Welcome speech of Ms. Signe Ratso, Deputy Director-General of the Directorate General for Research and Innovation of the European Commission. The agenda of the event involved a general introduction about the ACT project, contributions from invited CoP experts and participatory activities with open discussions. Seven participatory consultation sessions on initial CoP setups and support scenarios moderated by ACT Seed partners took place during the conference. BASNET Forumas association took part in the GENERA project CoP consultation sessions, coordinated by ACT partner DESY (Germany). During the session it was decided to set future plans for the GENERA CoP and to start activities. The conference was fruitful and useful for the participating CoPs
